Caroline Russell’s skill as a flutist is driven by her passion for creating inclusive communities through music. Whether performing in intimate chamber settings or with a larger ensemble, she thrives on fostering collaboration and shared values among musicians and audiences alike. This commitment has guided her across the globe, with performances in Spain, Portugal, Japan, and the United States, including upcoming venues in Minnesota, Texas, and Norway.

A dynamic ensemble player, Caroline has performed under esteemed conductors such as Dr. Henry Dorn of the St. Olaf Band, and Dr. Chung Park of the St. Olaf Orchestra. She brings a keen sense of artistry and a “beautiful, ringing tone” that blends well into the collective sound of any ensemble. She has performed an extensive range of repertoire from band and orchestra classics to newly commissioned works by composers such as Jodie Blackshaw and Erika Svanoe.

Caroline’s dedication to music extends beyond the stage as the co-founder of the Staples Wind Ensemble in Westport, CT. Born out of her vision to unite musicians around a shared mission of inclusivity and creative exploration, she believes in the transformative power of music to inspire empathy and understanding. Currently, she works in the Music Library at St. Olaf College as a special projects manager to support musicians behind the scenes.
